On Sunday May 12, 2013, Reiyukai in all around the world will conduct a Memorial Service in commemoration of Mr. Ogata and his achievements as the International President.

The Reiyukai America National Committee cordially invites all the members, accompanied by their friends and family, to attend the nearest Reiyukai Memorial Day activity. Let us take this opportunity to be grateful for the efforts by our forerunners, to think what we can do to make this nation even better, and to make a pledge to work toward it.

Besides what is announced in this section, both activity committees from Connecticut/East Coast and Chicago are planning Memorial Day activities as well.

During the festival, Reiyukai America presented a booth to introduce the variety of activities while at the same time offering a free craft workshop. Often, participating in public events becomes a new opportunity to get to more people. After attending the festival, several people have joined Reiyukai!

After three decades, Reiyukai’s activity Center in San Diego has moved to a new location on April 1st, 2013!

For the demonstration workshop, guests created a custom made basket that utilized recycled milk cartons and Japanese washi paper for the decoration. Reiyukai was grateful to receive volunteers from the Pasadena Public Library that learned the level 1 workshop craft in minutes, and then quickly turned around to help the guests. The skill level needed to attend the workshop ranges from simple cutting to complex precision folds and styling. A five year old girl that attended with her mother couldn’t help but smile as they completed their craft without any struggle at all.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Change.” And we are very happy to announce to all of you that we, Reiyukai America, organizer of the creative Oriental Fusion Handcraft -Recycling Workshop, received an invitation from the City of Pasadena to be part of this great event.

We will be organizing a Free Recycling Workshop at the Pasadena Central Library (285 E. Walnut St., Pasadena, CA) on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 12:30 to 2:30pm.
